How Can We Help
APMMA believes that our organisation along with all our Members, should be recognised and capacitated to be able to compete effectively in the Automotive Industry.
IN 2014 APMMA lodged a complaint at the Competition Commission for independent workshops to be allowed to service and repair in warranty vehicles, without consumers losing manufacturers warranty.
In March 2017 Competition Commission ruled in our favour and the process of developing the Voluntary Code of Conduct started.
APMMA became part of the steering committee that developed the code.
Process led to the Final guidelines for competing in the S.A. Automotive aftermarket published on the 10th Dec 2020 and became effective on the 01st July 21.
S.A. has adopted the Right to Repair. However, access to the market is still a challenge. Access to “MARKETS” is the “KEY”.
Private sector still continues to side line and marginalise the independent service providers (SMME’s). They continue to undermine the Guidelines for competing in the S. A. Automotive Aftermarket as published by the Competition Commission on the 10th Dec 2020.
We have engaged with the company that won the contract to manage government fleet (RT46), to ensure that our Members are no longer being overlooked as Service Providers.
Funding success depends on Access to the Market, APMMA is making strides dismantling monopolies, price fixing and collusion in the Automotive Industry.
We continuously engage with Government in an effort to encourage transformation and inclusivity of our sector.
We engage Government to capacitate and equate our members to our competitors through grants. OEM’s are incentivised to do business in S.A, we call upon Government to incentivise our members as well.
Our Members currently employ in excess of 600 skilled and semi-skilled full-time workers, trainees and apprentices.
We regularly conduct Roadshows, Marketing and Social Media campaigns aimed at encouraging youth, especially Females and Different Abled Individuals, to consider a career in the Automotive Industry.
